Golang

Go 1.23.rc1 has been released, and discussions about lter are ongoing. Is Go heading in the wrong direction? There is an interesting viewpoint: information is like sugar, addictive. The author lists similarities between information and sugar:

• Low-cost mass production: After the information revolution, humans started producing information in large quantities, similar to producing sugar.
• Similar addictive mechanisms: In 2019, a study at the University of California, Berkeley found that information also stimulates dopamine production in the brain, similar to the mechanism of sugar.
• Proliferation of junk information: Just like the popularity of junk food, the consequence of human addiction to information is the abundant supply of junk information.
• Mental “obesity”: Just as junk food causes physical obesity, junk information can lead to mental obesity.

Information addiction, like sugar addiction, is harmful and needs active prevention. A healthy lifestyle involves reducing sugar intake and limiting exposure to junk information. However, just as one cannot completely avoid sugar, there is hardly a chance to escape junk information in life. We can only exercise self-restraint, repeatedly remind ourselves to avoid junk information, and prevent information addiction. I currently avoid using recommendation algorithms, seek information independently, and use ancient technology like RSS.

It’s well known that learning programming is not just about syntax but also about practicing by working on projects. Since last year, our company has been through a year of layoffs, with each round reducing the workforce by approximately 3% to 5%, totaling around 1000 people in a year. Please note that this is not a sudden layoff; it happens gradually over time. This is the most foolish approach, as everyone is unsure when they might lose their job, leading to a lack of security and significantly impacting motivation.

Why haven’t I quit? I dare not step out of my comfort zone because of loans. The current job market is tough, especially in my city, with limited job opportunities.
